ThankYou Rewards carries more fine print than most bank programs: the card you hold determines both the rate you get on cash redemptions and whether you have access to the full transfer-partner roster, and some older cards cash out below the standard rate. If you hold a premium ThankYou card, transfers to airline partners are usually where the value is; if you hold only a no-annual-fee card, simple redemptions may be all that's available, and pooling points with a premium card can unlock the better rates.
